DJI Mini 4 Pro waypoint missions

The Mini 4 Pro was the first Mini with waypoints in DJI Fly. SmartWaypoints makes them practical: plan the mission on a computer, export it as a KMZ, fly it from the controller.

Waypoints turn the Mini 4 Pro into a small, light survey and filming tool. The limit is the planning: in DJI Fly you set points by hand, and covering an area evenly is almost impossible that way. SmartWaypoints computes the lines across a polygon from your height and overlap, adds the camera actions and checks the total flight time against your battery.

How to create a DJI Mini 4 Pro waypoint mission

  1. Find your site. Search an address or move the map to the area you want to fly.
  2. Draw what you need. A polygon for an area (overflight, photo grid, video sweep or no-go zone) or points for single shots, POI orbits, take-off, start/stop video.
  3. Set the mission. Height, overlap or fixed line spacing, speed, gimbal angle, heading, movement pattern.
  4. Generate the waypoints. SmartWaypoints shows the path, its length, flight time and number of waypoints for each drone.
  5. Download the KMZ and load it into DJI Fly (step-by-step guide).

What you can do with it

Coverage patterns

For an area, choose how the drone sweeps it. Line spacing comes either from the photo overlap you ask for or from a fixed width.

Plans

You can start without an account. The free plan covers simple missions; the paid plans raise the waypoint limit and unlock the advanced options.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DJI Mini 4 Pro have waypoints?

Yes, the Mini 4 Pro supports waypoint missions in DJI Fly, including missions loaded from a KMZ file.

What speed should I set for my Mini 4 Pro?

When you add the drone, SmartWaypoints proposes 5.83 m/s (21 km/h) as slow speed and 9.72 m/s (35 km/h) as fast speed. You can change both; they are used to estimate the flight time.

Do I need to install anything?

No. SmartWaypoints runs in a web browser on a computer or tablet. You only use DJI Fly on the controller or phone to fly the mission.

Is it free?

Yes, the Basic plan is free and allows missions of up to 40 waypoints with straight scanning lines. Pro (9 €/month) and Premium (25 €/month) add more waypoints and advanced options.
