Plan Air 3 and Air 3S waypoint missions on a map in your browser, then fly them from DJI Fly. Ideal for larger areas and for shots you need to repeat exactly.
The Air 3 and Air 3S fly longer and handle wind better than the Minis, which makes them a good fit for bigger survey areas and long filming lines. SmartWaypoints lets you draw those areas, pick a sweep pattern and an overlap, and get a mission that DJI Fly can open directly.
Add your drone with the model DJI Air 3 or DJI Air 3S in the drone list, and adjust the speeds if you fly faster or slower than the defaults.
How to create a DJI Air 3 waypoint mission
- Find your site. Search an address or move the map to the area you want to fly.
- Draw what you need. A polygon for an area (overflight, photo grid, video sweep or no-go zone) or points for single shots, POI orbits, take-off, start/stop video.
- Set the mission. Height, overlap or fixed line spacing, speed, gimbal angle, heading, movement pattern.
- Generate the waypoints. SmartWaypoints shows the path, its length, flight time and number of waypoints for each drone.
- Download the KMZ and load it into DJI Fly (step-by-step guide).
What you can do with it
- Area surveys: straight, squared (crosshatch) or spiral sweeps over fields, quarries, forests or building sites.
- Video sweeps: a video area type films the whole polygon on a regular path.
- Several drones: split one area between drones, by zones or in interleaved lines (“rake”), and get one KMZ per drone.
- No-fly zones: in France, the path can respect the official drone restriction zones.

For an area, choose how the drone sweeps it. Line spacing comes either from the photo overlap you ask for or from a fixed width.
